    Just watched: Alien

    Alien

Not a bad film by any means but I was expecting a lot more with all of the buildup/things I had heard about this. It definitely seemed ahead of it’s time in 1979 in regards to the overall presentation, big props to that. The best thing the film had going for it was the eerie silence throughout. Built up the suspense quite nicely. One major flaw however was that I felt no real connection to Sigourney Weaver’s character Ripley at the end. She is supposed to be the protagonist of the film but as a viewer I really didn’t get a chance to connect with her throughout the whole film. She doesn’t really become that integral part until there’s 30-40 minutes left in the film and that felt way too late. Sure I wanted her to survive and triumph over the alien but not as much as I would’ve if she had been on the forefront the whole time. I’m intrigued enough to watch the sequels.
